Approximately 700 acres of fertile land off Highway 18, The Convent Route (45 mins from Merida, 15 mins from the town of Tekit, and 30 mins from Ticul). It is also close to Oxkutzcab where a rich variety of citrus fruits are grown. This land is suitable for cattle or can be cleared for crops. This is the richest soil in the Yucatan…..a deep red earth that is highly sought after, since so much of Yucatan has either very poor or no topsoil at all, and is mostly rock and limestone. This land is deep, rich and can support a variety of crops. It is now mostly forested and there are mahogany, cedar, ziracote trees (used for making violins) and many other precious tropical hardwoods. A recent birding expedition by a group or ornithologists yielded a sighting of nearly one hundred different species of birds including many varieties of parrots, owls, wild turkey, quail, pheasant and others. This ranch sits very close to the ruins of Mayapan, the last capital city of the Maya. There is also a large unexcavated pyramid (Chamul) that sits nearly on the border of the ranch and from the top of the pyramid one can see the entire surrounding countryside and villages. There is also a large cavern on the property that is littered with Mayan pottery. This ranch is also in the cenote zone but since the property is so extensive it will take some exploration to find the cenotes that invariably exist… A secondary road used by local farmers leads to the ranch and is well maintained and used daily. The entire property is fenced with either stone fencing and/or new barbed wire. The land presents tremendous potential for some individual or corporation.
